I Scream You Scream We All Scream for Ice-cream

Image
2nd Class enjoyed creating close-up ice cream artworks this week. They designed their own ice creams, choosing different flavours and a variety of tasty syrups and toppings.  The children carefully sketched their ideas before painting them using bright summer colours and outlining them with sharpies. They worked hard to add detail and make their ice creams look realistic and eye-catching.  To finish their artwork, they decorated their creations with sequins to represent sprinkles. The children are delighted with the colourful display of their finished work on our class noticeboard and they have sparked interesting conversations on the way out to and in from yard.

Transformations in Maths

2nd Class explored mirror images as part of our work on transformations. Using attribute shapes, pencils to create a line of symmetry, and mirrors to check our answers, the children investigated how shapes can be reflected to create matching mirror images. They carefully placed shapes on one side of the line and predicted where the reflected shape would appear. The mirrors helped them check their thinking and develop a deeper understanding of symmetry. The class showed great teamwork, problem-solving skills, and enthusiasm throughout the activity! Take a look at some examples of their work below.
