Ms Hill's First and Second Class

Given the sunny weather in May the 1 st and 2nd class children have been bringing the beach to life with their sand and sea  beach scene paintings. The children painted beautiful seaside landscapes and brought of sense of individualism to their work by adding in colourful flip-flops they each designed. They also added other items of interest such as beach balls, sandcastles, crabs etc.   These paintings are now proudly displayed in outside our classroom, spreading a bit of summer joy to everyone who walks by.

As part of our Gaeilge learning the children have been exploring the theme "An Teilifis." They learned all about the different types of television programmes and to bring the theme to life and make it more accessible and relatable to them they were asked to choose their favourite type of TV programme, wrote about it and illustrated it on their own TV. The boys and girls were busy little bees this May as they dived into a fun and creative project — designing and building their very own "At the Beach" summer dioramas! The children transformed shoe-boxes and recycled materials into miniature beach scenes with sandy shores, sun umbrellas, crabs, sandcastles, surfboards and undersea creatures to name but a few included. It was wonderful to see the children's creativity, spatial awareness and teamwork skills on show.  Take a look at their fantastic creations below!

Huge congratulations to the boys and girls in 2nd Class on making their Holy Communion on 17th May last. A very special day and they should be so very proud of themselves. You did a wonderful job! A lovely ceremony was enjoyed by all. 

 During the fine weather we decided to take our learning outside and began reading our class novel 'Bill's New Frock' in the lovely sunshine. As the saying goes "make hay while the sun shines." There were plenty of happy little readers!

This Easter, the children in 1st and 2nd class engaged in many egg-citing Easter themed activities.  The fun began with the creation of their very own Easter baskets . Each child decorated their basket with bright colours and then came the best part—filling their baskets with coloured straw, Easter chicks and little Easter designs created by themselves. Surprise additions of chocolate eggs and Easter marshmallows brought smiles to everyone's faces. Next, it was time to get creative and make  Easter bunny paintings ! The children painted pastel backgrounds and designed adorable bunnies to the foreground of their art work. We think they turned out great! The children put their creative minds to work and wrote Easter acrostic poems , where the first letter of each line spelled out "EASTER."  Finally, to wrap up our Easter theme, the children played an exciting round of Easter-themed Irish bingo . First, Second and Third classes were busy during Seachtain na Gaeilge playing bingo games and engaging in shared reading of Irish books. The sea of green on our Lá Glas dress up day was a lovely nod to a great week celebrating the Irish culture and language! Maith sibh gach duine!
