Autumn is Here!

Take a look at the wonderful work we have done on the autumn theme. We went on an autumn nature walk and recorded the various signs of autumn - what we could see, touch, feel and smell. We brought in some autumn leaves, helicopters and blackberries that we found in our school grounds for our nature table and added to our collection by bringing other signs of autumn in from home such as acorns, oak leaves, conkers and pine cones. We painted some autumn leaf hedgehogs. We had fun experimenting with mixing various colours to make autumn tones. We worked in groups on autumn projects.

Garden Bird Projects

We are practising many skills during our garden bird groupwork projects. We are learning how to source information, rewrite key facts in our own words as well as building on sharing, listening, taking turns and working together. We are having great fun and we are learning lots about birds we see in our gardens and school grounds. Stay tuned for the finished projects!

Soil Experiment

We had great fun doing some outdoor learning in the sunshine. We worked in groups to collect a soil sample. We added water and waited patiently to see what would happen. We learned that soil is made up of lots of different materials and were amazed to see the different soil layers that settled in our jars. We even spotted some worms and a baby snail! It was very cool!

St Brigid's Crosses

Spring is here and we celebrated the feast of St Brigid by making St Brigid's crosses. We learned the story of St Brigid and sang Brigid's special song "We Sing a Song to Brigid."
