Ms Hill's Second Class

1st and 2nd Clas children had great fun during their first dance session with dance teacher Maeve. They learned a series of energetic and upbeat moves. They carefully watched Maeve, practised copying each step, focusing on timing, rhythm and coordination. By following and repeating the movements, they developed their listening skills, concentration and memory, while also improving their balance and overall fitness. The lesson encouraged the children to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence and express themselves through movement, and it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and smiles throughout the session. The girls and boys in 2nd Class have been very fortunate to begin learning about coding using ScratchJr on the iPads. They have been following step-by-step instructions to create their own simple programs, carefully selecting and ordering blocks to make characters move and respond. Through this work, the children are developing important skills such as problem-solving, logical thinking, sequencing, and attention to detail. They are also building perseverance as they test their code, spot mistakes, and make improvements. Well done to all!

We celebrated Safer Internet Day by taking part in the 1st and 2nd Class lesson provided by Webwise . The children learned about the importance of staying safe online, keeping personal information private, and being kind and respectful when communicating with others on the internet. They discussed what to do if something online makes them feel worried or uncomfortable and were reminded to always tell a trusted adult if they have a concern. The Kahoot quiz following the presentation was a fun way to consolidate the main messages of the session. The children then worked on an accompanying worksheet where they had the opportunity to design an internet safety character which they brought home to discuss what they learned in school about being safe online. They also were tasked with consulting with a parent to devise an internet safety rule they will endeavour follow at home.  Some great ideas were presented in class the next day.  ...
