Clay Pumpkin Pots

We made clay pumpkin pots and look forward to painting them so we can bring them home at mid-term to show our families. We really enjoyed making matching lids.

Maths Week 2025

Image
During Maths Week the girls and boys in 1st and 2nd Classes had the opportunity to take part in a Zoom Maths Quiz hosted by Michelle Culloty of Maths Chats. The children had great fun with the problems posed and it was lovely to see the collaboration and use of maths language among them all. 1st and 2nd Class also went on a Maths trail around the school grounds and had fun using their Maths eyes counting the number of wheels in the car park, spotting 2D and 3D shapes and counting various objects. Second Class had fun making Figure Me Out posters for Maths Week. We thought of all the numbers connected with ourselves and came up with Maths clues so our classmates could work out things like our shoe size, our favourite number, the number of countries we've visited.

Autumn in 2nd Class

Image
We embraced the theme of autumn by going on a nature walk in our locality and around the school grounds. We were able to identify different types of trees by the shapes of their leaves and their seeds. We collected different types and colours of leaves, helicopters, acorns and blackberries.  When we returned to class we chose 5 items each to show our partners. It was cool to see what others found! We made leaf prints and painted some autumn squirrels too as part of our autumn learning. We enjoyed creating some Squirrel drawings inspired by the autumn theme and had fun mixing colours to create autumnal tones for painting them.

We All Fit Together!

As we begin 2nd Class, we have been chatting a lot about the importance of getting along with each other and working together as a team. We are each like individual pieces of a jigsaw but when we come together we make a beautiful jigsaw.
