Teen Number Work

We have been working on the concept of teen numbers being made up of 10 plus another number.

Each group had a pile of number cards from 11 to 18. We shuffled the cards and took turns choosing a number. We used unifix cubes to make the number. We chose one colour to make the ten and a different colour to make the rest of the number.

We then did a show and tell and explained to our classmates how we made our numbers and told them the sum of the number we made e.g. 10+?=⬜

Hello Summer - Beach Scene Paintings

Given the sunny weather in May the 1 st and 2nd class children have been bringing the beach to life with their sand and sea  beach scene paintings. The children painted beautiful seaside landscapes and brought of sense of individualism to their work by adding in colourful flip-flops they each designed. They also added other items of interest such as beach balls, sandcastles, crabs etc.   These paintings are now proudly displayed in outside our classroom, spreading a bit of summer joy to everyone who walks by.

Garden Bird Projects

We are practising many skills during our garden bird groupwork projects. We are learning how to source information, rewrite key facts in our own words as well as building on sharing, listening, taking turns and working together. We are having great fun and we are learning lots about birds we see in our gardens and school grounds. Stay tuned for the finished projects!

Summer Dioramas

The boys and girls were busy little bees this May as they dived into a fun and creative project — designing and building their very own "At the Beach" summer dioramas! The children transformed shoe-boxes and recycled materials into miniature beach scenes with sandy shores, sun umbrellas, crabs, sandcastles, surfboards and undersea creatures to name but a few included. It was wonderful to see the children's creativity, spatial awareness and teamwork skills on show.  Take a look at their fantastic creations below!
